Love is a fickle thing. To be in love is one of the most beautiful feelings you could experience. On the other hand losing a love feels like the world is crumbling around you.

Me Before You takes us on a roller coaster through these emotions and more. We follow Louisa 'Lou' Clark, our protagonist at she navigates a new job which can be quite daunting without having to care for a sarcastic quadriplegic who makes jokes at your expense. Will finds Lou strange and exhausting, just someone else to babysit him assist him in the most mundane of tasks. However Will and Lou form an unlikely bond of friendship which develops into something more. What Lou didn't account for is that she is caring for a man who no longer has the will to live.

This is a story of love and loss, of pain and understanding, of being able to decide what you want to do with your life.

And it hit me right in my heart. I cried with Lou when I found out Will didn't want to live, I felt Will's pain as he longed to do the things he once could and I laughed along with them both as they became friends.

This book makes me happy. Although it does not have your traditional happy ending it just makes me feel warm inside. It makes me feel loved but it also makes me feel determined.

Although this book is categorised as romance, to me it speaks more about self discovery and loving yourself. We see Lou grow and change from being this girl who had not stepped outside her small town to visiting a different country and having new experiences. Will is right there next to her encouraging her to push her limits and live her life.

And for me that's what spoke to me the most.

Everyone finds love in their lives. But to find someone who loves you but also is your biggest supporter or cheerleader is rare.

There are times when the story becomes a bit predictable but that is just a minor detail which can definitely overlooked.

Overall I would highly highly recommend this book as a feel good read or a summer beach read. I cannot wait to read the sequel.
