Steak and Drake

So my best friend is better than yours. No, she really is. How many of your best friends buy you tickets to see Champagne Papi live? yeah, that's what I thought.

Something else my bestie and I love? Steak! Nice juicy thick steak. So when we heard that not only do Gaucho do some amazing steak but they can order halal steak for you, we knew if was going to be the one.

First, let's talk about the interior:

How swanky!! Definitely not a jeans and trainers restaurant. I would say it is perfect for date night!

Once we had ordered, we were offered some bites of bread with a zesty chimichurri

The bread was freshly baked with a soft centre and a hard crust which made it perfect for dipping.
What I really loved was these dough balls. They were cheesy pillowy goodness all wrapped into a little package, divine!

For starters, we went for the seafood sampler

Crayfish Causita: - delicately cooked crayfish in a creamy coriander mayonnaise, although this was my least favourite, my besties loved this one and wouldn't share.

Scallop Tiraditos: - raw scallops with lots of soy sauce, chillies and avocado. Sometimes the best things in life come in small packages with simple flavours.

And finally my favourite of the lot, tuna ceviche served with chunky guacamole, a winner in my book!!

Now onto the mains of the night, the STEAK!

I ordered my steak medium rare with the Aji Molido marinade. It was heaven. Not only was this beef so tender and succulent, it was cooked perfectly and flavoured with smoked garlic and parsley. Heaven in every bite.

The bestie went for a steak too but with a peppercorn sauce. We weren't talking much during that meal because we were enjoying the meal too much, aka stuffing our faces with delicious food.

We had our steaks with a side of twice cooked fat chips - crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside

And some thin fries finished off with that zingy chimichurri

Chimichurri is now my new favourite thing. I am all about fresh zingy flavours!!
We finished off our meal with something light and cleansing on the palate - milk chocolate and praline mousse with hazelnuts and biscotti.

The perfect way to end a meal!

You can find Gaucho here.

And with a side of Drake? The perfect evening!!! Happy Birthday to me :)
