Bharuchi Daar Chawal

Daar chawal is a well-loved dish among Gujarati's. Whether with chicken or meat, it is served in India at weddings but also is a great comfort food. The mix of lentils and chicken (which is the daar) served with rice is a winner.

This recipe is in fact a variation on this classic - bharuchi style. For my non-Indian friends, Bharuch and Surat are areas of Gujarat, so if  you're from Bharuch you are a Bharuchi and if you are from Surat you are a Surti.

I guess what I'm saying is that different regions cook the same dishes differently and I enjoy trying all the different types.
